Module 2 · Minimum Wages Act, Chap. 88:04 and Minimum Wages Orders
Wages & Pay
National minimum wage, statutory overtime, pay frequency and equal pay.
The national minimum wage is TT$20.50 per hour, effective 1 January 2024. It applies to all workers except where a sector Wage Order sets a higher rate.
Statutory overtime rules apply only to workers earning up to 1.5 times the minimum wage (about TT$30.75 per hour). Above that level, overtime is governed by the employment contract only.
Statutory overtime rates (workers earning up to ~TT$30.75/hr)
| Hours worked | Rate |
|---|---|
| First 4 overtime hours | 1.5 × hourly rate |
| Next 4 overtime hours | 2 × hourly rate |
| Beyond 8 overtime hours | 3 × hourly rate |
| Rest day / day off | 2 × hourly rate |
| Public holiday | Typically 2 × hourly rate |
